Peter McCarthy - violone player

Welcome to my website!

I play a variety of different bass (and double bass) string instruments.

In 2002 I started a concert series in Walthamstow, London E17 - Music in the Village.

Emily White, trombonist, has released on YouTube a performance of a piece I wrote for her, O 'r Galon.

You can view it here.

For St James' Baroque  I play violone and violone grosso, and sometimes large bass violin.

Here are London Viols, returning from playing in Mallorca, in 2018

For twenty four years, I was the bass player for the English Concert.  In 2003 I volunteered myself to manage St. James' Baroque and ended up running it ever since.  Be careful what you volunteer for!

Our last annual commission was performed on May 26th, Sicialiana for Gail by Roderick Williams - a lovely piece and an excellent final commission.

Concerts this season will last about 65 minutes, with no interval or refreshments.

Music in the Village resumed on May 26th.   Next up, June 21st our Son et Lumière for the summer solstice - a Free Event!  Over 1000 candles

will illuminate the church.  9.20pm, doors open round 9.05pm

I would like to salute Marcus Rashford MBE for the great work he has done.  I qualified for free school meals -  instrument loans & lessons were free too;  lucky for me.     Bravo, Mr. Rashford.
